Traveen Mathew is a young Sri Lankan off-spinner who has attracted attention through control, variation, and a confident approach against attacking batters. Born in Kandy, he developed his game through school and under-19 cricket before moving into senior domestic and franchise competitions. Mathew bowls right-arm off-breaks and uses changes in pace, flight, and release to make scoring difficult during the middle overs. Although still building experience, he has shown the temperament to bowl in short-format matches where batters constantly look for boundaries. His performances for Sri Lanka Under-19 and different franchise teams have given him opportunities to learn from experienced players and compete in demanding situations. As a right-handed lower-order batter, his main value remains with the ball, but further development could make him a more complete cricketer.
