About Dunith Wellalage
Dunith Wellalage is a talented Sri Lankan bowling all-rounder known for composed left-handed batting and skilful slow left-arm orthodox bowling. Born on 9 January 2003 in Colombo, he attracted attention while leading Sri Lanka at the 2022 Under-19 World Cup. His performances in that tournament highlighted his maturity, control, and ability to contribute under pressure. Wellalage uses flight, accuracy, and changes in pace to trouble batters, particularly during the middle overs. With the bat, he can build partnerships, rotate the strike, and provide useful runs lower in the order. He made his senior international debut in 2022 and has since produced performances against strong opponents. His calm temperament and all-round skills make him a flexible option in formats. Early in his career, Wellalage continues to develop through international and franchise cricket. His discipline, cricket intelligence, and match awareness suggest that he can play a major role in Sri Lanka’s future. (icc)
