Nuwan Thushara is a Sri Lankan fast bowler recognised for his low, slingy release and the awkward angles it creates for batters. A right-arm medium-fast seamer, he can swing the new ball, attack the stumps, and deliver accurate yorkers when an innings reaches its final overs. Thushara’s path to professional cricket was unusual, as he first became known through softball cricket before moving into the hard-ball game. Strong displays in domestic and franchise competitions eventually brought him into Sri Lanka’s T20 international side in 2022. His breakthrough performance came against Bangladesh in 2024, when he claimed a hat-trick and completed a memorable five-wicket haul. Although his action often draws comparisons with Lasith Malinga, Thushara has developed his own variations and match plans. His pace, deception, and ability to bowl during difficult phases make him a valuable option in modern limited-overs cricket, especially when quick wickets are needed under pressure consistently.
