Most Wickets in IPL 2026: Final Top 10 Wicket-Takers

IPL 2026 is over, and Kagiso Rabada of Gujarat Titans won the Purple Cap with 29 wickets in 17 matches, one more than Bhuvneshwar Kumar of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (28) and four more than Jofra Archer of Rajasthan Royals (25).

Royal Challengers Bengaluru won IPL 2026, beating Gujarat Titans by five wickets in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 31 May 2026 for back-to-back titles. Below is the final list of the top 10 wicket-takers of the season, followed by a closer look at each bowler.

1. Kagiso Rabada (Gujarat Titans): 29 wickets

Rabada was the most reliable wicket-taker of the season. He finished with 29 wickets in 17 matches at an average of 21.59, taking a wicket every 13.4 balls, with a best of 3/25. Bhuvneshwar Kumar led the Purple Cap race for much of the league stage, but Rabada overtook him late in the season as Gujarat Titans went all the way to the final.

His pace and bounce made him Gujarat's main weapon in the middle and death overs, and he won the Purple Cap by a single wicket.

2. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (Royal Challengers Bengaluru): 28 wickets

Bhuvneshwar Kumar finished one wicket short of the Purple Cap, but his 28 wickets in 16 matches came at an average of 17.89 and an economy rate of 7.95, both the best of any bowler who took 20 or more wickets this season. His best figures were 4/23.

His ability to swing the new ball both ways made him RCB's key wicket-taker in the powerplay, and he finished the season as a champion.

3. Jofra Archer (Rajasthan Royals): 25 wickets

Jofra Archer took 25 wickets in 16 matches for Rajasthan Royals at an average of 22.36 and an economy rate of 9.32, with a best of 3/17. His pace and extra bounce made him Rajasthan's leading wicket-taker, and Rajasthan reached Qualifier 2 before losing to Gujarat Titans.

4. Rashid Khan (Gujarat Titans): 21 wickets

Rashid Khan took 21 wickets in 17 matches for Gujarat Titans at an average of 24.57 and an economy rate of 9.08. His best figures were 4/33, and he played all 17 matches as Gujarat reached the final.

5. Anshul Kamboj (Chennai Super Kings): 21 wickets

Anshul Kamboj was one of the breakout bowlers of the season, taking 21 wickets in 14 matches for Chennai Super Kings with a best of 3/22. His economy rate of 10.53 was the highest in this top 10, but his ability to take wickets at important moments kept him in the top five.

6. Eshan Malinga (Sunrisers Hyderabad): 20 wickets

Eshan Malinga took 20 wickets in 15 matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad at an average of 25.35 and an economy rate of 9.33. His best figures were 4/32, and Sunrisers reached the Eliminator, where they lost to Rajasthan Royals.

7. Rasikh Salam Dar (Royal Challengers Bengaluru): 19 wickets

Rasikh Salam Dar took 19 wickets in only 12 matches for the champions, at an average of 21.32 and a wicket every 13.5 balls. His best figures were 4/24. Together with Bhuvneshwar Kumar he gave RCB two of the top seven wicket-takers of the season.

7. Mohammed Siraj (Gujarat Titans): 19 wickets

Mohammed Siraj also finished on 19 wickets, in 17 matches for Gujarat Titans, with a best of 3/26 and an economy rate of 9.06. He was one of four Gujarat bowlers in the final top 10.

9. Kartik Tyagi (Kolkata Knight Riders): 18 wickets

Kartik Tyagi took 18 wickets in 14 matches for Kolkata Knight Riders at an average of 27.67, with a best of 3/22. He was Kolkata's leading wicket-taker of the season.

10. Jason Holder (Gujarat Titans): 17 wickets

Jason Holder played only 11 matches for Gujarat Titans but took 17 wickets, with a best of 4/24. His average of 17.06 and economy rate of 7.57 were the best in this top 10.

Who missed out

Prince Yadav (Lucknow Super Giants) and Prasidh Krishna (Gujarat Titans) finished just outside the top 10 with 16 wickets each. Jamie Overton and Arshdeep Singh, who were in the top 10 in mid-May, also dropped out as the season reached its final stages.

IPL 2026 wicket-takers: key numbers

Gujarat Titans had four bowlers in the final top 10: Rabada, Rashid Khan, Mohammed Siraj and Jason Holder. Champions RCB had two in the top seven, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rasikh Salam Dar. Bhuvneshwar (17.89) and Holder (17.06) were the only bowlers in the top 10 to average under 20 in a high-scoring season.
