The Viking Cup is played according to the T20 International (T20I) format. All matches are played as per ICC rules, and points from these matches also count towards the ICC T20 rankings.
In the round-robin stages, each winning team will earn 2 points, while the losing team will earn no points. If a match is tied, a Super Over will be used to decide the outcome of the game. The top two teams after the round-robin will advance directly to the final.

Final Viking Cup 2025
In the final match of the first season, played on 10 August 2025, Norway, batting first, scored only 105 runs in 19.1 overs and presented a low-scoring game that proved to be detrimental for them. In reply, Austria's batsmen displayed excellent batting from the very first ball and chased down the target easily by scoring 106 runs at the loss of 2 wickets in just 11.5 overs. In this way, Austria defeated Norway by 8 wickets and declared itself the first historical champion of the Viking Cup.
