Experienced Players

The biggest strength of Dambulla Sixers is their experienced players, who know how to turn the tables in difficult times. The most experienced players of the team include Afghanistan's "President" Mohammad Nabi and South Africa's consistent opening batsman Reeza Hendricks, whose tactical maturity and explosive hitting have the potential to intimidate the opposition in the T20 format. Apart from these, New Zealand's star middle-order batsman Mark Chapman has vast experience of international cricket, which will be very useful in saving the innings and increasing the run rate in the middle overs.

Among the local Sri Lankan players, dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman Kusal Perera has been the biggest icon of LPL since the first season. Perera knows how to make the most of the powerplay and give aggressive starts. In the fast bowling department, experienced left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman (who is renowned for his cutters and death-over bowling) and experienced Nuwan Pradeep provide stability to the bowling line-up with both old and new balls.

LPL Debutants & Emerging Stars

This year, LPL 2026 will also see some new and fresh faces donning the Dambulla Sixers jersey, some for the first time or at a very young age. Bangladesh's rising wicketkeeper-batsman Tauhidan Islam has been added to the squad this year, marking his LPL debut season, and his heavy-hitting will be the focus of all.

Young talents from the local domestic circuit like Ayana Siriwardhana and Asanka Manoj (both from the Emerging Under-23 category) have been included in the squad so that they can showcase their hidden talent on this big stage as per the new rules. Apart from these, in the spin department, Sonal Dinusha and Nimesh Vimukthi are also ready to make a splash at this premium level of LPL for the first time.

Coaching Staff & Management

The brain behind any team's champion status lies in the coaching staff, and Dambulla Sixers have an excellent and highly strategic management setup this year. The team's head coach is Rangana Herath, a legendary former Sri Lankan left-arm spinner. Herath has an impressive track record of nurturing young talent and developing game plans on spin-friendly local tracks.

Dambulla's management has made the entire franchise setup very modern and analytics-driven this time around after coming under the new ownership group, Sequoia Consultants. Along with them, top analysts have been added to the support staff for technical support and international trainers for physical fitness so that the fitness and game plan of the players remain absolutely top-notch throughout the tournament. The main objective of Dambulla Sixers is to perform with a fearless and smart approach on the field.

On paper, the Dambulla Sixers squad looks to be the most balanced and dangerous in LPL 2026. While they have world-class all-rounders like Mohammad Nabi, Mark Chapman and Sahan Arachchige, the bowling department also has wicket-takers like Mustafizur Rahman and Akila Dananjaya. It remains to be seen whether the team can win the trophy under his management.
